Aid campaign for homeless: shoe donations reach the crypt in Vienna!
An impressive initiative to support homeless people in Vienna was recently launched by the Federal Committee of Trade with Fashion and Free Time Articles. Yesterday, donations worth around 45,000 euros were handed over to help the crypt, one of the best -known facilities for homeless people. The generous donors include well -known companies such as ARA Shoes, Intersport and the Legero shoe factory, which proven warm clothing and footwear for those affected. "Every donation warms," emphasized the head of the crypt, Elisabeth Pichler, and thanked the participating dealers for their support in this challenging winter. This fundraising campaign is particularly important because the crypt offers different services for homeless people 365 days a year, from meals to a warm sleeping place.
night work for the homeless
in parallel to this aid campaign, social workers of the crypt are committed to also achieve the so -called "hidden" homeless people. Eight social workers are traveling seven days a week to see after those who do not want to visit facilities and live on the street. Susanne Peter, an experienced social worker, describes the challenges of her night work, in which she meets people like Jacques who lives on an island and, despite the cold temperatures, does not want to give up his usual lifestyle. "Not everyone can stay in the emergency quarters," she explains, since some psychological problems have or just want to stay alone.
But it's not just the direct help offers that count. Society is also called for action. Caritas' cold telephone can be used by anyone who discovers homeless in their surroundings so that help can be organized as soon as possible. "We are always looking for volunteers, especially in the cold season," said Caritas employees. In this connection, the crypt emphasizes the need that each individual can contribute to helping those who live on the street in the cold months. Interested parties can visit the Caritas website for further information and support.
These two heavily committed measures show how important it is to hold together and help even in difficult times when people are pending support. As the crypt and relatives of trade reaffirm, it is a common responsibility to be there for the weakest in our society.
