Oostwoud, Niederlande - On December 25, 2024, a very special Kerstdiner took place in the festively decorated church of Oostwoud, organized by Ed and Iris Bobeldijk from Midwoud. Around thirty single people came together to enjoy an entertaining four -course menu with drinks, for which they only had to pay a small fee. The Bobeldijks, who would have been alone on the holidays, wanted to make sure that nobody was exposed to loneliness during this time. The initiative, which quickly found support in the community, was additionally funded by generous donations from restaurants and suppliers. The atmosphere was further revitalized by an entertaining quiz round and live Christmas carols sung by singer Edith Numeijer, who made the event an unforgettable experience. Guests like from Druif, who lost his wife six years ago, expressed their gratitude for this gathering: "The holidays are always difficult, but this diner brought me joy and solidarity." Although the event was originally planned as a unique campaign, the participants hope that it could become a new tradition.
