Habeck is fighting for the Chancellery: Lost trust, but stay chances!
The green Minister of Economics Robert Habeck competes with the clear goal of becoming a candidate for chancellor of his party, despite the current poor poll values. How ZDF reported , said Habeck in an interview: "You really have to want the Chancellery, with skin and hair." He admits that the Greens have decreased in voting favor, with current survey values between twelve and fourteen percent, which makes the party fall behind other competitors such as the Union, AfD and SPD.
Despite the challenges, Habeck remains optimistic and believes that the mood in the country could change quickly. In another report by Tagesschau the reaction to his candidacy is described as mixed. Critics, such as CSU boss Markus Söder, see a "mockery" of the voters in Habeck's ambition after he has made controversial decisions in the failed traffic light coalition as Minister of Economics. Nevertheless, party colleagues like Felix Banaszak encourage his nomination and consider him a strong candidate who can build bridges in society.
preparations and challenges
Habeck’s nomination as a top candidate is planned at the Federal Party Congress of the Greens, which will take place in Wiesbaden next week. The political landscape shows little willingness to work with actors of the failed traffic light coalition, which further increases the challenges for the Greens. Nevertheless, Habeck remains steadfast and asks his voters to expect a change. "We will look ahead and then everything is possible in all directions," said Habeck optimistic.
