Equality for women: This is how Carinthia fights against wage differences!

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On March 6, 2025, international women's day will be celebrated, which, however, has become more equality than ever than ever. On this occasion, the eye/basement Carinthia pointed out the continuing inequalities between men and women in the world of work. According to their appeal, wage inequality between the sexes is still an urgent problem: women still earn less than men. The women's association therefore calls for decisive measures to improve wages and working conditions as well as social recognition of the unpaid care work.

The eye/basement indicates that missing insurance months that arise from family and care work are still not recognized, which leads to financial disadvantages for women in old age. In addition, they criticize that the new government program hardly provides progress for women, rather there is a risk that existing rights will be reduced. The abolition of educational leave, which represents a significant step back for many women, is particularly depressing.

political measures for equality

At the same time, the Ministry of Social Affairs deals intensively with the gender equality. It pursues the goals of discrimination and violent society through the implementation of gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting. These strategies are supported by various laws, including the equal treatment law. The ministry has set up a working group that works to reduce gender differences in earnings.

In addition, the interministerial working group of gender mainstreaming/budgeting actively participates in the implementation of gender equality goals at the federal level. This includes regular analyzes and recommendations to combat wage scissors and to improve living conditions for women. The legal basis for these endeavors is anchored in the Austrian Federal Constitutional Act, which demands an actual equality of gender. These comprehensive steps are crucial to promote equality in society and to reduce the existing obstacles.
