Health reform: Tauernklinikum receives new financial support!

Zell am See, Österreich - On January 1, 2025, the Tauernklinikum Zell am See-Mittersill will be taken over by a new health holding company in the state of Salzburg. This decision results from a declaration of intent signed yesterday, as reported. The state government will fully take over the financial losses of the hospital that have been increasing for years and thus decreases significant economic burden for the municipality of Zell am See. It is planned that the Tauernklinikum continues to act as an independent society, but can also cooperate closely with the state clinics, especially in areas such as purchasing and further education.

important changes and regional participation

According to Mayor Andreas Wimmreuter, the Pinzgau population will continue to have a say. The Supervisory Board will consist of regional representatives, and the mayor makes it clear: "We are on the supervisory board, but the region will also be represented in the future when developing the regional structural plan." The Tauernklinikum should therefore not be fully integrated into the state clinics, but rather preserve its own identity and ability to make decisions. In addition, the country will also take over the full financial departures of the hospital retrospectively from the turn of the year to secure its stability in the long term, such as krone.at added.

The Oberndorf Hospital will also become part of the new state health holding company at the same time, whereby the negotiations are still underway here. Salzburg thus takes a significant step in health care to secure future medical care in the region and make it more efficient.
