Together against violence: victim protection conference in Lower Austria strengthens help for those affected
Niederösterreich, Österreich - The second victim protection conference of the State Health Agency (LGA) took place on December 10th in Lower Austria and performed for a determined cooperation to combat violence. Representatives of numerous clinics and victim protection facilities came together to develop strategies to support the numerous victims of violence. "Violence affects all of us-so it is crucial that we act together and offer those affected the support that they urgently need," emphasized State Councilor Christiane Tesch-Hofmeister (ÖVP). This appeal is no coincidence, because in society violence and its consequences are often invisible because many affected people are silent.
The conference also had a visual function by offering workshops and training courses that focused on topics such as child protection and documentation. Elisabeth groom, director of the Lower Austrian LGA, emphasized: "Sensitization and training for the employees and the cooperation with auxiliary institutions are essential to recognize signs of violence at an early stage and to act safely in dealing with those affected and perpetrators." At a time when the focus is more on violence prevention, the processing of such topics is essential.
