Women with disabilities: fight together for rights and visibility!

The FMB - Interest representative women* with disabilities is passionate about the rights and visibility of women* with disabilities in Austria. The organization was founded on March 8, 2023 by Heidemarie Egger, Julia Moser and Eva-Maria Fink. With the “FMB is on”, the association is pursuing the goal of creating an anti-female, feminist and intersectional advocacy in order to make the many discrimination against which women* are exposed to with disabilities and to counteract them. These activities are supported by the innovation fund from light into the dark, such as ots.at reported.

The founders draw attention to the serious challenges with which women* are faced with disabilities. "Women* are ignored, marginalized and not involved in socio -political or feminist discussions. Our life is shaped by the search for identity and self -determination as well as how to deal with barriers," says Julia Moser. In order to counteract this grievance, FMB invites all interested women* with disabilities to become part of their community and to work together for a fairer society. A first step in this direction is an online meeting that will take place on March 20, 2025 for which registration is required.

a network for security and visibility

The initiatives of FMB are of crucial importance because women* and girls* have to lead a safe and self -determined life with disabilities in Austria. The lack of a safe space in which you can find support is a central problem that is concerned. "Our goal is to create a nationwide network that women can turn to with disabilities and where they feel safe," said Heidemarie Egger. The inclusion price that the organization recently received is not only a confirmation of your work, but also an incentive for the future, such as Inclusion-Kartenkarte.at
