FH Joanneum and University of Graz: Prizes for innovative educational projects!
The coveted Erasmus+ and ESK Awards 2024 were awarded in Graz on Wednesday evening. Two outstanding projects from the region were honored. FH Joanneum received the Erasmus+ Award for the groundbreaking project “define”, which helps seniors improve their online financial literacy. The aim is to make it easier for older people to access digital financial services in order to increase their participation in financial markets and better protect them from fraud. This innovative effort offers comprehensive training materials based on international standards and available in multiple languages, facilitating applicability worldwide, it reported meinkreis.at.
Innovative approaches to education
In addition, the University of Graz was pleased to receive an award. Her project “DiaLog” aims to promote written argumentation skills in secondary school students. Through a novel didactic approach that uses oral dialogue as a bridge to written argumentation, students can deepen their skills on relevant climate issues such as the need for fast fashion or data volume limits for streaming. In close collaboration with teachers, 18 modules were developed and tested and optimized in countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The materials are important not only for teachers but also for students in various language courses, such as erasmusplus.oead.at informed.
The project quickly proved to be essential, as argumentation skills are not only fundamental to academic success, but also remain essential for active participation in society. The “DiaLog” approach creates a connection between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, which helps students to examine socially relevant topics independently and critically. The projects of both educational institutions highlight the role of adult and student education and their adaptation to the digital challenges of our time.
