Bicycle repairs at a bargain price: How to benefit now!

Rohrbach, Österreich - The Austrian government has expanded the popular repair bonus to bicycles, a step that has delighted numerous users since September 16, 2024. Environmental and Climate Councilor Stefan Kaineder emphasized that the bonus that was originally launched in Upper Austria not only benefits the regional economy, but also protects the climate and lowers the expenses of the citizens. In addition to the support of e-bikes, repairs on all bicycles, cargo bikes and bicycle trailers can now also be used. All over Austria, 820 companies are now participating in this initiative, including partners such as the Bikeshop Filnkössl and Johann Pötscher in Rohrbach-Berg, which increases demand and gives the repair-culture trend further upflowing.

facts about the repair bonus

The repair bonus enables private individuals to receive 50 percent of repair costs up to 200 euros for a service or maintenance. This not only gives older bikes a new chance, but also protects against unnecessary falls in poorly maintained bicycles, such as Horst Kaindlbinder, a local bicycle business owner. Simple measures such as the regular review of wear parts, in particular tires, are sufficient to avoid many problems. The incentive to repair even in older models is additionally reinforced by the funding bonus, since these wheels often have an individual value for your owners.

According to BMK.GV.at, the repair bonus has already been very well received: Just two years after the introduction, over a million bonus for electrical devices could be redeemed. Thanks to the new expansion to bicycles, the organizers expect similarly high success. All zinted -resorted bicycle services have been able to register as partner companies since August 7 and benefit from the advantages of this program. As part of the EU funding program, 130 million euros are available for the entire project, which are increased by national funds to a total of 124 million euros in order to meet the enormous interest.

The repair bonus is therefore not only a financial incentive, but also a step towards a more sustainable society. According to the Minister of Climate Protection, Leonore Gewessler, people in Austria want to handle resources and the environment carefully, and this bonus is a prime example of these efforts.
