Digital accessibility: Lüneburg makes websites accessible to everyone!

A groundbreaking step towards digital accessibility is introduced in the district of Lüneburg and the Hanseatic city of Lüneburg. From January 2025, the assistance software "Eye-Able" will be integrated on the official websites of these regions in order to make the online offer more accessible to all citizens. According to the Uelzener Presse in the future, users can read the functions of texting, the magnification of Fonts and use the display in simple language. This is particularly advantageous for people with visual or cognitive restrictions and older people who can therefore access digital information more easily.

The eye -able symbol, a small figure, enables users to individually adjust the website settings. Functions such as blue -filter, reading functions and contrast improvements are available in more than 25 variants. District Administrator Jens Böther expressed himself optimistically: "We are making a clear sign of inclusion and accessibility in the digital world." From January, the websites of several municipalities in the district will also be updated accordingly, including Adendorf, Bleckede and the velvet communities of Amelinghausen and Dahlenburg, as reported by the Uelzen press.

data protection and security

In this context, the protection of personal data is also a central concern. The Lüneburg Marketing GmbH points out that personal data is only collected to process inquiries and services. Anonymous use of the website is largely possible without personal data. In particular, the company ensures that the data of the users are protected from unauthorized access and emphasizes the rights of the data subjects in relation to their personal information in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Overall, these developments represent important progress in digital inclusion and show the commitment of the local authorities for a barrier -free society - both in virtual space and in dealing with personal data.
