20 years MLP-Cup: tennis highlights and world stars in Nußloch!
The MLP Cup in Nußloch is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This event was launched at the center of active prevention, formerly known as Racket Center, and has since developed into a highlight of tennis in the Rhein-Neckar metropolitan region. Over 60 ATP World Ranking players from more than ten countries have registered for the tournament, which will take place in the last week of January. The organization of the MLP Cup is the responsibility of the GSM Society for Sports Management mbH, the editor of the Life Skill magazine ZAP impulse.
The games can be watched by around 500 spectators in the tennis hall. In addition to exciting matches on three courts, there are numerous supporting events. Former participants include prominent names such as Gael Monfils, Mario Ancic and Mischa Zverev. The only successful defending champion of the MLP Cup is Daniel Masur. The MLP Cup 2025 is planned for the period from January 19th to 26th, 2025.
Wildcard Challenge and results
The Wildcard Challenge for the MLP Cup 2024 recently took place as part of the event. Lasse Pörtner from TC Doggenburg prevailed in the final against second-seeded Vincent Marysko from TC RW Sprendlingen and secured the main draw wildcard for the upcoming tournament. The final score of the game was 7:6, 6:1 for Pörtner. In the first set, both players were unable to hold their serves at the beginning, but Pörtner was able to get the first break in the 11th game and take the lead. The first set was finally decided in a tie-break. In the second set, Pörtner temporarily led 5-0, while Marysko struggled with difficulties and too many mistakes.
Marysko receives a wildcard for the qualification, while Alexander Kürschner, the third place, was not able to take third place due to the injury of his opponent in the semi-finals, as the official website of the MLP Cup reported.
For the Wildcard Challenge for the MLP Cup 2025, interested parties must submit their registration by January 1st, 2025; the draw will take place on January 2nd, 2025. There is also the opportunity for volunteers and linesmen to become part of the MLP Cup team.
