Qatar in turmoil: PSG President Al-Khelaifi in court!

Paris, Frankreich - Paris Saint-Germain and his President Nasser Al-Khelaifi are targeted by the judiciary for serious allegations. As laola1 reported , al-Khelaifi has been pursued since February 5 for helping to abuse, buying voices and bribery. The accusations refer to the Lagardère affair, in which billionaire Arnaud Lagardère is accused of having misused the funds of his company for personal extravagance for years. In particular, the investigation is about allegations that Al-Khelaifi 2018 is said to have intervened in a coordination of the Qatar State Fund in order to promote Lagardère's interests.

In the meantime, Al-Khelaifi vigorously rejected the allegations and emphasizes that he had “no connection” to the affairs. The PSG President was surprised by the developments and said: "I had no influence on this matter," and that his contribution was only to forward a phone call. Also Katar's head of state, sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, has assured Al-Khelaifi and claims that the allegations made against him do not apply to him, but rather that he is being involved in a "completely misleading process".

Potential consequences for Qatari Investment

However, the situation seems to cause internal tensions within the Qatar government. According to the report of yahoo sports it was even indicated that a withdrawal from French football and an investment stop could be imposed in further developments. PSG has been in the possession of the QSI investment fund since 2011, and the current allegations could have a serious effect on the future of the club.
