On May 4, 2025, the world will run again for a good thing. The 12th Wings for Life World Run is just around the corner and the registration for this opens on November 6, 2024. This annual event quickly developed into one of the largest running events worldwide that not only attracts sports enthusiasts, but also strengthens awareness of spinal cord research.

The event invites all runners: inside and wheelchair users: to take part in the inside, regardless of your location - be it with one of the flagship runs or through the app that enables you to run virtually. In Vienna, the event will be held again in one of the seven cities that were selected as hosts for the Flagship Runs. However, the participants should quickly secure a starting place, since the places have typically quickly sold out in recent years.

Since its first edition in 2014, the Wings for Life World Run has collected impressive 51.9 million euros for spinal cord research. The run in 2024 was able to break all records: Over 265,818 participants: inside from 192 countries took part worldwide - including 60,900 in Austria alone. Together, the community covered an average distance of 11.5 kilometers, which corresponds to around 50 earth rounders. The sum of the collected funds was an impressive 8,104,499 euros and flows directly into the non -profit Foundation Wings for Life.

The CEO of the foundation, Anita Gerhardter, emphasized the importance of these funds: "The funds collected in the 2024 edition flow into pioneering research projects and clinical studies worldwide."
