Greifswald, Deutschland - In November 2024, the newly established Kiel Greifswald Alliance Award, endowed with 5,000 euros, was awarded for the first time by the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (CAU) in cooperation with the University of Greifswald. The prize is intended to strengthen the cooperation between these two North German universities in the field of life sciences and target new research associations, such as Uni-greifswald.de

The award ceremony honors a large number of outstanding projects, including the work of Prof. Matthias Peipp and Prof. Christian Schmidt, who deal with immunotherapy against tumors. In addition, Prof. Marc Bramkamp and Prof. Sven Hammerschmidt were honored for their research on Pneumococcal mutants, while the project by Prof. Gabriele Uhl and Prof. Stanislav Gorb also received recognition for spots. The price is part of the extensive promotion of young talent by the Kiel Life Science focus, which includes postdoc and communicator awards as well as the KLS-Young Scientist program. The aim of these initiatives is to support life-scientific careers on the CAU and thus to secure top research in Schleswig-Holstein, such as Uni-kiel.de
