Women's Week 2025: Strong women in focus – events in Vienna!

On February 28, 2025, the European Parliament's Liaison Office in Vienna is organizing a diverse program of events to mark International Women's Day. In addition to discussion rounds with politicians from five different parties, committed young Europeans from the EUth association will shed light on the challenges and achievements of women's rights. The events will take place on March 6 and will include a screening of the LUX Audience Award-nominated film “Julie Keeps Quiet.” There will then be a discussion with MEPs Evelyn Regner (S&D/SPÖ) and Anna Stürgkh (Renew/NEOS), who will address the themes of the film and the role of the European Parliament in the area of ​​gender equality. The film addresses the dilemma of a tennis player who must decide whether to remain silent or tell the truth in a world dominated by power structures, which anonymizes the fundamental challenges women face. Another important event is the conference on equality policy, which brings together politicians, experts and educators. Here, progress and challenges in EU gender equality measures as well as the representation of women in politics are discussed. Elisabeth Grossmann (S&D/SPÖ) will present the EU strategy for gender equality 2020-2025. These issues are of essential importance not only for the EU, but also for society as a whole. A concert will take place at the Musikverein on March 8th, focusing on strong women in the field of music and presenting compositions by Flora Marlene Geißelbrecht and Louise Farrenc, setting a powerful accent for peace and equality.
