Burgenland folk dance blossoms: film presentation inspires young and old!
As part of an exciting project, the Burgenland Folk Dance Association has released a uniform dance book with CD to keep the tradition of folk dance alive. An impressive film was made about this in 2024, which was presented to the public on Friday at the Birkenhof in Gols. At the event, the children's folk dance group from Neusiedl am See, led by Paul Haider, showed two special dances that reflect the heritage and joy of folk dance. “Folk dance is currently experiencing great popularity among children and young people,” noted association chairman Matthias Beck. This clearly shows that the enthusiasm for the community and movement also appeals to younger people, which is particularly valuable in today's fast-moving world, as the reporting by MyDistrict.at proven.
A total of 21 dances, 12 games and 6 customs were implemented for the film, including Hungarian and Croatian dances. Filming took place in numerous picturesque locations in Burgenland, including the old bathhouse in Großhöflein and Lockenhaus Castle, highlighting the region's cultural diversity and historical heritage. The video and audio documentation ensures that these traditions can be preserved for future generations. The Folk Dance Association has set itself the task of not only documenting these customs, but also actively promoting and passing them on.
Neusiedler See-Seewinkel National Park Experience
Both initiatives - folk dancing and the preservation of nature in the national park - impressively show how culture and nature occupy a valuable place in Burgenland that is valued across generations.
