Winter chaos in Hesse: A3 closed, trucks stuck in the snow!
Winter has hit West Hesse with full force! On the night of Thursday, November 21st, the A3 turned into a chaotic battlefield of stuck trucks and crashed cars. The roads were a mess as the first flakes of snow fell and drivers were faced with slick conditions. A serious accident between Ransbach-Baumbach and Dierdorf caused closures for hours and traffic chaos that kept the rescue workers on tenterhooks.
A truck lost control and pushed several vehicles into each other after the driver was unable to brake in time. Three people were slightly injured and firefighters had to free two other people from their cars. The property damage? A shocking six-figure amount! The emergency services were busy cleaning up until 4 a.m. before traffic between Limburg and Montabaur could finally flow again.
Heavy goods traffic trapped in the snow
But it wasn't just the A3 that was affected! In the Limburg-Weilburg district, several trucks and a heavy transport vehicle were stuck on the snow-covered federal roads. Bus traffic in the Rheingau-Taunus district came to a standstill in the morning, and there were also weather-related accidents in the Lahn-Dill district. In the Rhön, a gritting vehicle had to help a truck that was stuck on a steep country road. The German Weather Service continues to warn of frost and slippery conditions throughout the state, and drivers should prepare for further winter challenges!
