Christmas magic in the Waldviertel: Magic excursions are waiting for you!

In the run -up to Christmas, the waiting time for the Christ child is shortened with exciting and festive activities in the region. On December 24th, families and children can look forward to a very special trip in the Christkindlzug of the Waldviertelbahn. The train starts at 1 p.m. in Gmünd and takes the passengers to Weitra, where the Christ child talks to the Christmas story together with a night watchman. A punch hut that is open during the stay also ensures the right mood. Return to Gmünd is planned at 3 p.m.

But that's not all: the Wackelstein Express is also on the road from Heidenreichstein on December 24th. Here it goes back via Alt-Nagelberg, and the Christ child distributes Christmas parcels to the children while driving. To strengthen passengers, you can expect mulled wine, punch and hot sausages. The departures take place at 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., but the places are limited and it is advisable to act quickly to get seats.

self -made children's punch for the cold season

The cold season is also the perfect opportunity to spoil yourself with a warming children's punch. As Stuttgarter Nachrichten, there are many recipes that are also suitable for children, but also for adults, who want to do without alcohol. The fruity mixtures, for example with grape or apple juice, heat from the inside and bring a festive atmosphere into the home four walls. The preparation is easy and can be personalized with different types of fruit and spices.

In addition to these contemplative activities, children can make children at the old sports field in Amaliendorf and take part in the lecture of the Christmas story. The Gmünd volunteer fire brigade invites you to the open house on Christmas Eve, where mulled wine and punch are available. Another highlight for families should be the Christmas mass with nativity play in the parish church of Litschau.
