SUV accident in St. Johann: driver with alcohol and ski boots!

In St. Johann, Tyrol, a drama occurred on the night of March 17, 2025: A 27-year-old Portuguese man was behind the wheel of an SUV who apparently lost control of his vehicle. On the route from Oberhofenweg to Almdorf municipal road, his car took off in a right-hand bend, fell into a stream and landed on its roof. There were also two passengers in the vehicle, a 19-year-old girl and a 24-year-old friend, who luckily all three were able to escape the wreck themselves or each other, reports the website 5min.at. Only the 19-year-old suffered a minor knee injury.

The quick relief effort by the St. Johann fire department was crucial: Eleven emergency services deployed three vehicles to rescue the SUV from the stream with the support of a towing company. There was no threat of environmental contamination from leaking liquids, nor was there any personal injury, apart from the injury to the 19-year-old. An alcohol test on the driver also revealed a medium-high level, which led to the temporary revocation of his driver's license. This was also confirmed in a report by salzburg.ORF.at.

The recovery of the vehicle, which may have been reported as a total loss, was uneventful. Despite the seemingly precarious situation, the inmates escaped with a scare and, thanks to their own quick reaction, are lucky not to be worse injured.
