In Guntramsdorf, Mödling district, on Monday, September 22, 2025, investigations into a series of arson, which the municipality had kept in suspense since September 20, 2025. A total of six fire events were registered that affected several objects, including a garbage room of a residential complex, various containers, parts of the building on a construction site, scrub in the area of a railway embankment, a sailboat on the Pielerteich as well as adjacent trees and surfaces. Due to the strong smoke development, a civilian had to be treated.
The 17-year-old suspect was arrested not far from the last site, whereby fire brigade members recognized him and then informed the police. The cooperation between the volunteer fire brigades Guntramsdorf and Gumpoldskirchen as well as the district fire brigade command Mödling played a crucial role in the rapid identification of the perpetrator by exchanging valuable information and perceptions during the missions.

It is not the first time that the Mödling region is affected by arson. There were already serious incidents in the past, including a fire series that took place between February 14 and April 10, 2022. During this time, a 58-year-old man was suspected of having laid a total of 18 fires that concerned meadow areas, straws and hedges.
