In the past few days, several people have been injured in two serious accidents in Salzburg, one of them fatal. On March 21, 2025, around 6 p.m. there was a serious work accident at a large construction site in Kaprun. A 54-year-old Romanian truck driver and a 32-year-old car driver collided in a tunnel while driving. The truck, which was traveling uphill, was initially able to avoid the car coming from above, but due to the smooth concrete lane, the car collided head -on with the truck and also touched the tunnel wall. A 56-year-old passenger was caught and had to be saved with the help of the Kaprun fire brigade, which was on site with 27 emergency services, while the truck driver was unharmed. Another tragic event also occurred in Salzburg on March 7, 2025, when a 31-year-old car driver from Lower Austria died in a frontal crash in the Henndorf bypass. The traffic accident occurred around 1 p.m. when his car and a truck met head -on, although this impact was unclear. Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the emergency doctor was only able to recover the man dead out of the vehicle. Three other people, including a 36-year-old woman and daughter and the 58-year-old truck driver, were slightly injured and brought to hospitals.
