Especially in the district of Northeim, the effects of bad weather are dramatic: the emergency calls are received every minute and there is "absolute traffic chaos". Due to the weather conditions, the school in the Northeim district will fail on Friday, January 10th. In the city of Göttingen, traffic jams and accidents are also recorded in road traffic, which affects city buses. Ambulance had to be pulled out of the snow several times by the fire brigade.

In the district of Hofgeismar, reports about clogged streets and bus failures became known. Depending on the weather, the North Hessian Transport Association (NVV) decides on the implementation of the trips, while Kasseler Verkehrs- und Versorgungs-GmbH (KVV) reports restrictions on bus and tram traffic. Affected tram lines are 10, 11, 17, 27 and 28, and bus line 29 also has restrictions.

The weather warnings of the DWD are to be taken seriously: up to 8 cm of snow are expected, the warning applies until 6 p.m. The city and the district of Kassel, the Werra-Meißner district and the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district are particularly affected. Warning level 2 was issued for several counties. In the meantime, there were two truck accidents on Autobahn 7 on Thursday night, with a driver suffering minor injuries. The gladious risk in North Hesse remains particularly high at temperatures between 0 and -5 degrees.

In parallel, other regions of Germany also report on similar weather conditions. In many parts of the country there is currently danger from black ice, which leads to numerous traffic accidents. At Frankfurt Airport, for example, 120 out of 1,090 planned starts and landings were canceled, while 35 flights were pulled out of circulation in Munich. The rail traffic in the Frankfurt area is also affected by delays and failures, such as ZDF reported.

For the rest of the week, meteorologists continue to predict heavily cloudy weather with occasional showers and temperatures between -4 and +3 degrees. It will also be cloudy at the weekend, often dry, with a temperature between 1 and 3 degrees and light permanent frost in the mountain country.
