Fireplace fire in Klengen: Fire brigade saves house with threatening danger!

On Tuesday, January 7th, the Brigachtal fire brigade was alerted into a possible fireplace fire in the Klengen district. Neighbors had informed the emergency services due to strong smoke over a residential building. Fortunately, the residents of the property were not at home, which may prevent major damage.

The Brigachtal fire brigade started with a total of three emergency vehicles. Fire brigade commander Sascha Eichkorn found that there was no visible fire development, but dense smoke came out of the fireplace. The presumption of a fireplace fire was expressed, which probably came from a tiled stove. The fire brigade requested the Villingen fire brigade to support them, which appeared with a turntable ladder on site.

Thanks to these measures, a larger intervention in the house could be avoided. There was no further damage or water use, which relaxed the situation. Fire brigade commanders therefore strongly advise to avoid water in fireplaces, as explosions can occur and instead suitable extinguishing agents such as extinguishing powder or carbon dioxide should be used.
