The extinguishing work ran over the hours until the early morning, when the fire could finally be brought under control. Although some embers were persistent, fire director Werner Kloiber announced that there was shortly before the "fire". Three firefighters suffered slight estimates from escaping acids, while two employees of the company wore minor injuries. Fortunately, through a dozen employees, they could get themselves to safety. The population in the area was informed as a precaution to keep the windows closed, since the column of smoke pulled through the wind in the direction of Anif, as 5min.at reported.

serious impact on the environment

The affected hall was assessed as endangered due to the strong heat development and the fire, which made the situation even more difficult. Full specialists from a waste disposal company were already on site to properly remove the dangerous chemicals. In the course of the operation, water from the Salzach was also used to combat the flames and drones supported the fire brigade in the extinguishing work. Mayor Bernhard Auinger pointed out that a production failure at Maco is expected due to the fire. In addition, the Alpine road remained temporarily closed during the extinguishing work, so that traffic could only be released in the morning.
