Merry Christmas swimming: Divers bring the Christ child to Leoben!
Leoben, Österreich - On December 16, 2024, the traditional Christmas swimming of the volunteer fire brigade took place in Leoben-Stadt. This special event was organized by the Water Service department and attracted numerous spectators. In a festive atmosphere, the deployment divers sailed down the Mur on a Christmas tree raft with the Leoben Christ child on board. Starting at the level measuring point at the Mareckkai, the fire brigade was moved to the Waasenbrücke, supported by comrades from the fire brigades Kapfenberg-Stadt and Leoben-Göss. The event was accompanied musically by the Rudi Strauss brass group, who put the visitors in a Christmas mood with festive melodies, such as fireworld.at reported.
The celebrations attracted both locals and guests from the area who received the divers and the Christ child with loud applause. The head of the Leoben-Stadt fire brigade, BM D.V. Hubert Demmerer, delivered the greetings from the commander and welcomed those present. The Christ child took the opportunity to deliver a message and to wish the spectators a happy festival. The other highlights of swimming included the journey to the exit point on the Stadtkai, where the Christ child certainly went ashore again. This event served not only the celebration, but also thanks to the divers for an accident -free year of use, in the hope of an equally successful year 2025, as steiermark.Ork.at reported.
