Fire brigade Kemeten: From the exercise to an emergency - forest fire quickly deleted!

The Kemeten volunteer fire brigade experienced on March 8, 2025 how quickly an exercise can become an emergency. After training to combat vegetation fires under the direction of section fire inspector Stefan Weisz, the alarm fell: A stubble field near an industrial area had risen on flames for previously unknown reasons and threatened to attack adjacent trees. The emergency was triggered by the Burgenland State Security Center (LSZ) at 4:28 p.m. reported.

Shortly after the alarm, 80 volunteers made their way to the fire site with a total of ten vehicles. Thanks to the freshly learned knowledge from the exercise, they were able to extinguish the fire within just two hours and prevent a large fire. Due to the remote location, the water supply was a challenge, which is why the fire brigades Markt Allhau and Oberwart were alerted to support. In addition, the Pinkafeld fire brigade team was used to monitor the situation with aerial photographs and identify hidden embers, such as supplemented.

These events impressively underlined the importance of practical fire brigade training and the need to always be prepared for all eventualities. This is the only way to guarantee quick and effective intervention in an emergency. The fire brigade Kemeten was able to avert greater damage through its quick action and proved that it is well equipped even in unexpected situations.
