Half -timbered house in Hennef: Drama at nightly fire!
On Sunday evening, March 16, 2025, the Hennef volunteer fire brigade was alerted to Hennef-Stein at 8:11 p.m. A half -timbered house, which has been empty since 2005 due to the risk of collapse, was in full fire, the alarm level was quickly increased to "B4" when the first emergency services arrived. Three C pipes were used for fire fighting, which could only be carried out from the outside due to the acute risk of collapse. Two fire brigade tankers secured the water supply. In order to achieve embers, an excavator had to tear down parts of the damaged building. The emergency services, under the direction of fire inspector Bernd Gottschalk, consisted of 73 firefighters and ended their efforts around 11:00 p.m., as Fireworld reported.
Already in the early morning hours of the same day, at 4:27 a.m., the fire brigade was alerted to another fire in the street "In the Aue" in Falldorf. A couple who lived in the half-timbered house could get to safety in good time after the 71-year-old woman was woken up by a crackle. Despite the horror, they first tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose before the fire brigade arrived. The fire brigade also had to consult forces from the surrounding places because the fire had hit large parts of the roof structure. The situation with the solar panels on the roof, which continued to produce electricity, was particularly challenging, which made the extinguishing work more difficult. To ensure security, electricians had to dismantle the panels. The post-extinguishing work dragged on to the morning hours, and the cause of the fire still has to be determined, such as Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger
