Dramatic descent: Car falls seven meters deep in Villach!
On June 18, 2025, a serious traffic accident occurred on the Villach Alpine Road in the Villach-Stadt district at around 6:30 p.m. A 17-year-old driver from the Villach-Land district lost control of her vehicle, which led to a dramatic accident. According to initial investigations, excessive speed in a left turn was the main cause of the loss of control.
The course of the accident was as follows: The vehicle skidded, touched a road marking post and hit an oncoming car. The vehicle eventually fell about seven meters down a steep embankment and only came to a stop against a tree. There were a total of four people in the driver's car.

The driver and a 17-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, while two other passengers aged 17 and 15 were uninjured. The driver of the oncoming vehicle was able to stop in time and was also uninjured. Fortunately, the alcohol tests for both drivers were negative.
To assist in recording the accident and recovering the vehicle, the Villach main fire station and the Judendorf and Möltschach fire departments were alerted. 30 emergency services were deployed in a total of eight vehicles. Due to the accident, the Villach Alpine Road was temporarily completely closed.
