Drama in Werne: Fire in the garden house threatens to overlap on the residential building!
In the early morning of June 8, 2025, the fire brigade in Werne was alerted. At 04:41 a.m. the first reports about an "unclear fire", in which flames and bright noises were heard. It quickly turned out that a garden house on Brevingstraße was on fire, which led to the alarm keyword increased to "Feuer_3" at 04:43 a.m. This meant that the fire threatened to attack an adjacent house. Shortly after the alarm, the Stockum fire truck was alerted because a strong smoke development from Stockumer Straße, corner of Ostring, was reported.
When the emergency services arrived, there was a dramatic picture: the garden house and the adjacent vegetation were in full fire. In order to avert the impending danger to the residential building, a bar position with a jet tube was set up. To combat the fire, the emergency services used three C pipes from three sides. Due to the heat, the safety valve of two gas bottles, which were in the garden house, escaped due to the heat. However, the fire brigade was able to secure and cool them before worse.
Effective fire fighting and support of the residents
Thanks to the fast and coordinated use of the fire brigade, they were able to prevent the fire from attacking the house. A stored firewood between the house and the garden house caught fire and had to be extinguished. A total of 60 forces from all units from the Werne volunteer fire brigade, as well as members of the emergency services and the police, were deployed in the deployment. Fortunately, there were no injuries. The residents of Brevingstrasse showed their appreciation by bringing coffee and cold drinks to the emergency services.
The assignment ended around 6:45 a.m. and the estimated property damage amounts to around 5000 euros. The responsible operations manager Gordon Majewski had an investigation into the cause of the fire in order to examine possible security measures for the future.
