Christmas tree campaign in Traunstein: Record donations for good purposes!

On January 11, 2025, the “Aktion Christmas Baum” was carried out for the 51st time in Traunstein and Surberg. 1,749 discarded Christmas trees could be collected, which is a record result. In this campaign, 87 volunteers from the fire brigades from Haslach, Chamber, Surberg, Traunstein and Wolkersdorf were actively involved. The proceeds of this action are given a good cause. Many citizens donated more than the required three euros, which was able to generate additional funds.

Florian Scholz, the overall responsible organizer of the campaign, announced that the collected Christmas trees were brought to the Traunstein fire brigade and processed into chopping chopping. The Wolkersdorf commander Ernst Harrecker provided a tractor and a chopper. The recycling company Schaumaier delivered two large containers for the collected wood. The use of the proceeds will be decided in the coming weeks, while the official transfer of donations on April 11, 2025 is planned at the annual general meeting of the Traunstein fire brigade.

In a last campaign, 110 helpers from the Traunstein, Haslach, Chamber, Wolkersdorf and Surberg fire brigades were active and had collected 1,467 Christmas trees. The donation recipients are the special educational support center on the Brunnwiese with 1,000 euros, the Konarski family for the disabled -friendly conversion of their house with 2,000 euros and Magdalena Szegedi, which receives 6,000 euros for their driving license costs.

The Christmas tree campaign has been carried out for 18 years and receives support from the city of Traunstein, the Traunstein municipal utility, as well as various local companies and farmers. The commitment of the volunteers who contribute to the success of this campaign is particularly appreciated.
