The third wet extinguishing competition of this season took place on August 23, 2025 in Oberneukirchen, Upper Austria. The event was part of the district ranking and attracted numerous participants and spectators. Active groups, including guests from the Rohrbach district, competed against each other in a total of 51 competition runs. The aim of this type of competition is to promote the performance and teamwork of fire departments.
The commander of the Oberneukirchen fire department, HBI Ing. Jakob Burgstaller, was able to welcome numerous visitors to the award ceremony, including the mayor and member of the state parliament, Dipl. Ing. Josef Rahtgeb, as well as several high-ranking fire department representatives, such as district fire brigade commander OBR Ing. Johannes Enzenhofer and section fire brigade commander BR Ing. Karlheinz Pillinger. Lead judge Roland Rechberger led the competition.
Results of the competition
The results of the competition impressively demonstrated the skills of the participants. The winners in the different classes are:

For the district ranking, Dietrichschlag 1 was the clear winner in category A, while Treffling 3 led the district ranking B. In the community rankings, the Oberneukirchen 2 fire department showed the best performance.
Special features and thanks
The Oberneukirchen volunteer fire department was praised for the excellent implementation of the competition. These events not only offer a sporting competition, but also an opportunity for further training for the emergency services. They strengthen the sense of community and promote the commitment of firefighters in the region.
In addition to the competitions, training in the area of fire service is also ongoing. The fire service performance test aims to deepen the knowledge of the firefighting groups and always maintain it at a high level. This practical training includes the complete execution of a fire-fighting attack and places no emphasis on record times, but rather on exact performance with the appropriate vehicles and equipment. Another wet extinguishing competition will take place on August 31st in Berndorf, municipality of Eidenberg, where 26 groups are expected.
