160 years of the Bad Vöslau fire department: A festival full of tradition and action!

On October 26, 2025, the Bad Vöslau Volunteer Fire Department celebrated its impressive 160th anniversary. The highlight of the anniversary took place in the fire station in Bad Vöslau and began at 9:30 a.m. with a field mass led by Father Stephan Holpfer. The guests of honor included Mayor Christian Flammer and district fire brigade commander Anton Kerschbaumer, both of whom emphasized the importance of volunteering in their speeches.

An open day took place in front of the fire station gates, where numerous fire engines, including special vehicles from other fire departments and the Red Cross, were on display. An impressive operational exercise was also carried out in which two injured workers had to be rescued on the roof of the vehicle hall. A special attraction was the demonstration of a grease fire by the company Brandschutz JOST, where, in addition to fighting the fire, important prevention advice was also offered.

A versatile program for everyone

The fire brigade youth were also active and carried out their own exercises, supported by city councilor Thomas Lampl. Another highlight of the day was the big vintage car ride, during which historic fire engines, including the steam engine “Kathi”, drove along the Weinbergstrasse to Bad Vöslau. The first classic cars were expected around 1:30 p.m. and, weather permitting, the steam syringe demonstration also took place.

The festival not only offered exciting performances, but also a variety of culinary delights. The members of the Bad Vöslau fire department provided food and drink, which created a sociable get-together. The evening ended in the vehicle hall, where the festivities came to a grand conclusion.

However, the festivities surrounding the 160th anniversary of the Bad Vöslau Volunteer Fire Department are not over yet. The peace light handover will take place on December 18, 2025, followed by a fire department punch hut on December 27, 2025.
