South Korea threatens to supply arms to Ukraine – red alert!
Tensions between South Korea and North Korea are reaching a new high! South Korea has made it clear that it is ready to consider supplying weapons to Ukraine if North Korea and Russia further intensify their military cooperation. This threat comes after Seoul accused North Korea of sending 1,500 troops to support Russian troops in the Ukraine conflict. Despite vehement denials from Pyongyang, which dismisses these claims as “baseless rumors,” South Korea remains committed to taking action.
On Monday, South Korea summoned the Russian ambassador to discuss the allegations. South Korea's National Security Council said that sending North Korean troops to Russia's illegal war posed a serious threat to national and international security. “After deploying North Korean combat troops, we will gradually implement countermeasures,” said a senior official in President Yoon Suk-yeol’s office. These measures could include diplomatic, economic and military aspects, including consideration of supplying weapons to Kiev.
North Korea's fierce defense
Meanwhile, North Korea has rejected the allegations from South Korea, stressing that there is no need to comment on "baseless, stereotypical rumors." A North Korean official dismissed the South Korean accusations as an attempt to tarnish his country's image and undermine friendly relations between the two countries. Russia has not yet commented on the allegations, but defends its military cooperation with North Korea and emphasizes that it is not directed against South Korea's security interests.
The situation is tense and the international community is closely monitoring developments. South Korea is under pressure, particularly from Western countries and Kiev, which are demanding greater military support for Ukraine. So far, South Korea has focused on non-lethal assistance, such as demining equipment. But the possibility of providing defensive and even offensive weapons is now being seriously considered if the situation escalates.
