New shine for the Nauders fortress museum: History meets the future!

With a pioneering signing, the Army History Museum (HGM) and the fortress museum Nauders set a remarkable step into the future. According to ots.at Now a close cooperation as part of the museum new development of the traditional destination in the border triangle between Austria, Switzerland and Italy is initiated. Experts from the HGM will actively support the fortress museum by offering valuable advice in military -historical and curatorial matters in order to optimize and redesign the exhibitions. The prominent position of the Nauders Fortress Museum in Military History, both in the 19th and 20th century, is further strengthened by supporting the museums. Federal Minister Klaudia Tanner emphasized that the location played an important role for the Austrian army and national history. The HGM itself intends to expand its role as a leading military -historical research institution and to include current social discourses. It is interesting that Nauder's fortress, which was built between 1836 and 1840, is the only Austria to be fully preserved to this day and is an impressive testimony of military architecture. The innovative cooperation between the two institutions was defined: to promote the comprehensive review and presentation of history in all its facets and thus achieve broader public attention for the important events and the eventful history of this region.
