Biden under pressure: rush to provide military aid to Ukraine after Russia's brutal Christmas attack!

The world is watching Ukraine as President Joe Biden races against time! After Russia's devastating attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on Christmas Day, Biden called on defense ministers to push ahead with arms deliveries to Kiev. A dramatic step that underlines the urgency of the situation!

On Wednesday, December 25, Russia dropped the bombs - drones and missiles turned the holiday into a nightmare. At least six people were injured in Kharkiv and another life was lost in Dnipropetrovsk. President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke of a disgusting choice of timing of the attack: “What could be more inhumane?”

A Christmas massacre

Zelensky, who leads Ukraine in a bitter fight against Russian aggression, made it clear that the attack on energy supplies was targeted during the holidays to deprive people of light and heat. "Any massive Russian strike requires time to prepare. It is never a spontaneous decision," he stressed, criticizing the brutality of the attack.

The reaction from the USA was not long in coming. Biden strongly condemned the attack, saying: “The purpose of this outrageous attack was to disrupt the Ukrainian people’s access to winter heat and electricity.” He promised to further increase arms supplies to Ukraine to help the brave fighters.

The numbers speak for themselves

The US has provided a staggering $61.4 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since the full-scale war began on February 24, 2022. On December 2nd alone, a military aid package worth $725 million was announced, including anti-aircraft missiles and ammunition. The support continues - on December 7th, another $988 million was received, which included drones and ammunition for the HIMARS missiles.

But the clock is ticking! With Donald Trump taking office on January 20, 2025, support for Ukraine could be on the rocks. Trump has already expressed skepticism about financial support for Kiev and could drastically cut aid. So Biden must act quickly to secure as much as possible before the political landscape changes.

The Biden administration has used the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) to provide aid 55 times. And there remains a significant amount of $4 billion to $5 billion that Biden can still use to support Ukraine. A race against time that could influence the fate of many people!

The world is watching eagerly to see whether Biden will be able to provide Ukraine with much-needed resources in a timely manner as pressure mounts on the Biden administration. The coming weeks could be crucial!
