Austria's top farmers: Alfred Grand revolutionizes agriculture!

On March 21, 2025, outstanding achievements in agriculture were recognized in Europe. The farmer Alfred Grand from Absdorf was elected under the "Top 50 Farmers" together with Andreas Gugumuck, the operator of the future courtyard and the Vienna Schneckenmanufaktur, as well as Simon Vetter, head of the Vetterhof in Vorarlberg. This initiative aims to promote the innovative movement of regenerative agriculture. Alfred Grand is known for his pioneering work in the earthworm humus production and operates Austria's first research and demonstration farm, the Grand Farm. His goal is to promote a real organic regenerative agriculture that not only produces high-quality organic food, but also improves soil fertility and creates jobs.

The new research and demonstration company will also be supported by the "Taskforce Marktgärtnerei" initiated by Grand, which will celebrate its kick-off event in Absdorf next Wednesday, March 26th. This initiative pursues the important goal of improving the conditions for the market nursery in Austria and strengthening regional vegetable supply, which is particularly important for small -scale agriculture. According to grandfarm.at a unique production concept is followed here, which attaches a large variety of vegetables on small areas.

The exchange of practice and science

Another central aspect of regenerative agriculture is the collaboration with research institutes, as reported on . This cooperation aims to make agriculture to the future and to demonstrate the methods of regenerative cultivation. Workshops, excursions and training for various target groups should promote the exchange between science, practice and society and thus contribute to the spread of knowledge and best practices in regenerative agriculture.
