Full closures in Potsdam: Construction sites bring traffic to a standstill!
The city of Potsdam is faced with several construction sites and full closures this week, which could significantly affect traffic. From Monday, October 15th, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße in Babelsberg will be closed between Sauerbruchstrasse and Johann-Strauß-Platz for three days to make room for the installation of a crane. This decision is part of the more extensive construction work that is currently being carried out in the city.
This Monday the work on a new drinking water house connection in the street Am Böttcherberg, which leads from Wannseestrasse to Tannenstraße in Klein Glienicke, also starts. This full closure is expected to continue until November 4th. In addition, there is another full closure of the Upper Donarstrasse in Babelsberg from Monday to November 8th, where the drinking water pipe is renewed. Such measures are necessary to improve the city's supply infrastructure.
Current traffic changes and measures
Special caution is offered on Tuesday, October 15th, on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, Alleestrasse and Reiterweg. The commissioning of a new traffic light is planned here, which can lead to a temporary switching off of the traffic light between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Such changes can strongly influence traffic and should be taken into account by drivers in advance. The construction site in Friedrich-Ebert-Straße also remains up to date. Here the tram tracks from the Höhe Rathaus Ecke Behertstraße are renewed. These renovation measures also have an impact on traffic, since the Helene-Lange-Straße from Jägerallee becomes a dead end. Cyclists are redirected and the bypass routes are regulated by Eisenhartstraße and Jägerallee. The Hegelallee is also affected: there the sidewalks between Friedrich-Ebert-Straße and Jägerallee are renewed, which blocks a lane for car traffic, but a lane remains available in every direction.
other construction sites in the city
Another central traffic problem results from the current half-side closure of the Rudolf-Breitscheid-Straße between Griebnitzsee train station and the state border with Berlin. The traffic towards Potsdam is diverted via Stubenrauchstraße. This measure is part of a larger strategy to improve the transport infrastructure, which could bring numerous changes in the next few months.
The existing full closures of Ketziner Straße as well as the narrowing of the roads and blocked lanes on Zeppelinstrasse, Heinrich-Mann-Allee and on the Leipzig triangle contribute to the complexity of the current traffic situation in Potsdam. In addition, the blocking of the Cow Fortmamm in Golm is planned by the end of October, which could further restrict the navigation options in this region.
For citizens who are traveling regularly in Potsdam, it is advisable to the official website www.mobil-potsdam.de to inform about construction sites and current traffic changes.
