On December 4, 2025, a significant event took place at Semmering that celebrated the 30th anniversary of the AUDI FIS Women's Ski World Cup. As part of the ceremony, a new work of art by the renowned Austrian painter was presented Christian Ludwig Attersee presented. Under the title “Almsport – Skisport”, the colorful work of art shows a harmonious connection between skiing and nature, which is of great symbolic importance for the event.
The handover of the work of art took place in the presence of numerous guests of honor, including state governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, state sports councilor and LH deputy Udo Landbauer, mayor Hermann Doppelreiter and World Cup OK boss Franz Steiner. Attersee, who has been designing exclusive images for the Ski World Cup in Semmering since 1998, is making the works of art available as a personal donation. This gesture underlines the special appreciation of the event on the occasion of its anniversary the reporting shows.
The artist Christian Ludwig Attersee
Christian Ludwig Attersee was born on August 28, 1940 in Bratislava and turned to art after moving to Austria in 1944. He is considered one of the most internationally famous artists from Austria and started his career in 1967. Attersee has made a name for himself both as a painter and as an important representative of Pop Art in Europe. His exhibition of works, inspired by erotic and everyday themes, attracts a lot of attention and can be found in his countless solo exhibitions in Europe and the USA Lempertz reports.
The artist has already won major prizes in the past, including the Grand Austrian State Prize in 1997. Until 2009, he was a professor of painting at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Attersee spent part of his youth on Lake Attersee, where he also became known as a successful sailing athlete. His stage name goes back to these successes. Other works, such as the “Gustav Mahler Dyptichon”, show his deep connection to the landscape and culture of this region.
