A sporting sensation is approaching in the Villach region! From March 28th to 30th, 2025, the "Melted Snow Ski Challenge" will take place on the impressive Gerlitzen Alpe and the Ossiacher See - a unique competition that combines alpine giant slalom and water ski slalom in just one day and in one place. Claudio Köstenberger, 22-fold state champion in water skiing, is the creative head behind this extraordinary Event. "I am very passionate in both sports," he says and is happy about the realization of his dream after seven months of intensive planning.
On March 29, the event starts with the giant slalom on the Neulart Speed Departure, followed by the water ski slalom in Annenheim in the afternoon. Patron Georg Overs, Managing Director of Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See, emphasizes the perfect location of the ski area, which is located directly on the banks of Lake Ossiach. Participants from different countries, including France, Ireland and Switzerland, have already registered. The competition offers even an exciting supporting program for spectators, with training opportunities and events throughout the weekend. Veronika Zorn-Jäger, chair of the tourism association, emphasizes the innovative character of the challenge, since both sports can be connected without a car.
