New entry requirements for trips to Great Britain from April 2025!
From April 2, 2025, travelers from EU countries who want to travel to Great Britain must apply for an electronic entry permit (ETA). This applies to flights from BER Airport in Berlin, the city's only airport from which daily flights all over the world, including Great Britain, are offered. The direct goals include London, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham and Bristol, such as Berlin Live reported.
The ETA application is made via a portal that will be activated on March 5, 2025. Travelers have to upload personal data and a photo, whereby the processing fee is around 10 pounds of sterling (approx. 11.85 euros), payable by credit card. Travel agencies also have the option of applying for the permits for their customers. In view of the processing time, travelers should carry out the approval of the approval in good time before departure, since the approval is sent by email within 72 hours.
Details on the electronic entry permit (ETA)
The ETA is valid for two years and can be used for several trips to the United Kingdom. In addition to the general requirements, children, including babies, also have to apply for an ETA that is carried out by the parents. The introduction of this new regulation is associated with the aim of deepening the security checks because the ETA is digitally linked to the passport. In addition, the EU is planning to introduce a similar system (ETIAS) for travelers from third countries without a visa obligation in mid-2025, as adac noted.
