Peace message from Lower Saxony: Schools plant trees for the future!

A explosive meeting took place in Austria on Wednesday evening: the former FPÖ boss Christian Strache organized a discussion round about peace in Europe and the Middle East. The AfD MP Christina Baum, who looks at the upcoming elections in Germany, was also present. Baum warned that Germany could experience similar developments, especially when a government is formed without the AfD. In an urgent interview, she emphasized that in her view, the CDU was already a "rather left party" that could not implement the voters' interests. In their opinion, topics such as peace and fighting illegal migration, as can be seen on Krone.tv

climate change and peace in schools

As part of an important global project that encourages schools to participate, there is an action day in Lower Saxony, which is also intended to raise awareness of peace education and climate change. On September 21 - and also in the period from September 10th to November 15th - schools have the opportunity to take part in "Plant a Tree for Peace". The aim is to plant at least one tree in every participating school at lunchtime. This is done in accordance with a global initiative in which around 150 countries and around 40 schools per country are involved, as reported by the Lower Saxony Education Portal.

The planting of stem oaks, which are recognized as a "peace tree", not only serves to promote the ecosystem, but also illustrate the importance of resource protection in times when climate change and war are often influenced by resource shortage. This type of oak supports the largest variety of insects of all European tree species and is crucial for many plant and animal species.

With this initiative, Lower Saxony wants to make an active contribution to global environmental education without the need for membership in the supporting networks. The day of action is intended to inspire schools to become more active in sustainability formation.
