Austria's defense industry in the upswing: 800 billion euros for armor!

Österreich - The geopolitical tensions force the EU to invest massively in defense. A total of up to 800 billion euros should be spent on security, which is now also of great importance for Austrian companies. MfL, a manufacturer from Ennstal, received a large order for the production of tower housings for the "Leopard 2", the core of the Austrian tank troop. Managing Director Herbert Decker illustrates how the rising costs forcing the company to open up new markets in order to remain competitive in the long term. "We want to be a reliable partner for European armaments producers," said Decker.

political demands and innovative strength

The political scene must also rethink, according to the MFL owner representative Reinhard Haider. He demands that a mandatory production share for local companies must be ensured in the military procurement of the Republic of Austria. "In contrast to many other countries, it is intolerable that we do not rely on our own manufacturers," said Haider. Thanks to its modern robot technology, the MFL sees itself in a strong position on the market for armored vehicles.

In addition to the armaments industry, Nürmont, a specialist in mechanical engineering, also increases its own manufacturing competence. The company offers complete modules from individual individual parts and can implement projects in a company. From the idea to planning to the final assembly, everything stays in one hand. Nürmont emphasizes that the robust machines and the high production depth make it possible to efficiently produce parts of up to 12 tons. A strict quality management according to ISO 9001 ensures that all products correspond to the high standards that are now even more in demand.
