Austria starts Pfand-era: bottles and cans in the large circuit!
From January 1, 2025, the new disposable pawn system for plastic bottles and metal doses will be introduced in Austria, which aims to promote the recycling of valuable materials and reduce the throwing away of packaging in nature. As the operating company Recycling Pfand Austria announced, the system will be with a large -scale information campaign called "Attention!" Accompanied, which will be present on television and on social media. This campaign, in which the characters "PET" (plastic bottle) and "Can" (beverage can) play the main roles, should reach people in good time until the system starts and clarify the advantages of returning deposit packaging, so Today.at .
return offices and return processes
According to the Pfand Ordinance, all sales outlets that are provided with the deposit symbol are obliged to withdraw the disposable pawn packaging. Returning points that have to be used together can be set up at heavily frequented places such as shopping centers and train stations, which must be in the immediate vicinity of the sales outlets. It is also planned that the withdrawal can be taken manually and automatically. Sales such as bakeries are obliged to carry out the withdrawal only in the usual amount of sales, the responsible authority confirmed in Austria.gv.at .
An important goal of the new system is to achieve a return rate of 80 percent in the first year, which is to be increased to 90 percent by 2027. This project will contribute to the fact that around 2.2 billion PET bottles and cans are recycled annually, which propagates the requirements of the EU, which also calls for a 90 percent return rate from 2029. Recycling Pfand Austria has already made extensive preparations by equipping the trade network with deposit machines that are largely located at the entrances to the supermarkets.
