Free through Europe: This is how 35,000 young people secure free train tickets!
More than 35,000 young Europeans can currently apply for the Discover New Program, which was launched by the EU to bring young people closer to the diversity and culture of Europe. By April 16, 2025, interested 18-year-olds have the opportunity to register online via the European Youth Portal and to secure their free Travel Pass for train trips through Europe. According to 5min , the participants can travel free of charge for up to 30 days and also receive the discovery youth card, the discounts on public transport, accommodation and cultural activities in 36 European countries offers.
The DiscoverUr program is part of the more comprehensive Erasmus+program, which is equipped with a total budget of 26.2 billion euros, as stated on the website of youth.europa.eu reports.
After successful application, the selected participants can travel between July 1, 2025 and September 30, 2026. It is possible to travel alone or in groups of up to four friends. The group members have to register with a joint applicant code and have the opportunity to share their travel plans through a Facebook group with other discovery travelers.

The DiscoverUr program offers special support for young people with disabilities or health problems. The national agencies of Erasmus+ are at the side of the participants in preparation for travel and organize encounters. Selected participants also play an ambassador role by reporting on their experiences on social media and in their community.
