On January 8, 2025, the Torgauer Zeitung announced that Frank Dörschmann will return on January 25, 2025 after 26 years as the Mockrehna fire department. His farewell had been announced for several years, but was postponed several times due to a lack of successor. His successor will be Matthias Stemmler, who has the necessary qualifications. The deputy post is also filled, with Gerd Schneider being discussed as a possible successor to Jens Radtke.

In addition, the Volkshochschule Torgau starts a course for toddler swimming for children between the ages of 1 and 3 on January 16. This takes place every Thursday in the movement bath of the special school center. Furthermore, the NABU invites you to the "hour of the winter birds" from January 10th to 12th, in which participants can count birds for an hour and report the results. Last year around 130,000 people took part in this campaign, of which over 6000 were in Saxony.

Studies show that the blackening of rotor blades can significantly reduce the collision rate.
