Electricity prices explode: Households save up to 600 euros!
The energy costs are faced with a dramatic increase: from 2025, households must expect significantly higher electricity and gas prices. According to an analysis of viewers, the price differences between providers are enormous and saves consumers in many cases hundreds of euros due to the change of provider. Stefan Spiegelhofer, energy expert at viewer, emphasizes: "The selection of the electricity and gas supplier has great financial effects." An average household in Austria, for example, could save up to 600 euros for electricity and up to 1,150 euros in the gas if it changes the provider, as many alternative offer strong new customer discounts. In Upper Austria in particular, where the prices at Energie AG can be up to 1,434 euros per year, this is an enormous savings potential, since cheaper alternatives are already available from 838 euros, which corresponds to a saving of over 42 percent.
important alternatives in focus
The analysis clearly shows that the large state energy suppliers are less flexible due to their unchangeable prices. Small companies, on the other hand, react faster to market changes. This means that many households pay more with their current provider, even if they take into account new customer discounts. For example, Vienna Energie delivers the cheapest tariff among the state providers, but here too the cheaper alternatives are not far away. The situation in Vorarlberg is particularly striking, where households with a high annual consumption of 15,000 kWh pay 2,424 euros without discounts, while alternatives are only 1,276 euros, which corresponds to a price difference of 47 percent.
In addition to the classic tariffs, there are also modern options such as dynamic electricity tariffs and green electricity tariffs. These innovative models allow consumers to save on market fluctuations by adapting their consumption. Information from power information shows that dynamic tariffs are particularly advantageous for customers who actively manage their electricity consumption and can adapt their use to low prices at times. In addition, green electricity tariffs are now often cheaper than conventional tariffs and offer sustainable energy use. Households should consider these alternatives in order not only to save money, but also contribute to the energy transition.
