Sun shield for Wr. Neustadt: Photovoltaic roofing in the adventure pool!

Wr. Neustadt, Österreich - In Wiener Neustadt, a future-oriented project is launched: 111 parking spaces in front of the Aqua Nova, the popular adventure pool, are covered with photovoltaic systems on 1,400 square meters. This is done in the context of a Lower Austrian support program that has already equipped more than 2,500 parking spaces across the state with such systems. "This initiative ensures that used areas are used sensibly and at the same time renewable energy is promoted," explains LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf, while Mayor Klaus Schneeberger describes the ambitious project as an important contribution to improving urban infrastructure and climate protection. The PV systems are to generate 325,000 kWh of electricity annually, which can be used directly on site, which not only covers the energy requirement, but also saves valuable soil.

nationwide funding

The funding program aims to strengthen the use of photovoltaic systems in parking spaces and goes beyond Wiener Neustadt. Similar projects take place in cities such as Waidhofen/Thaya, Hollabrunn and Klosterneuburg. A total of around eight million euros are available for these PV roofs, as reported. There is also information on further funding that can significantly reduce the installation costs of PV systems. In Lower Austria, local authorities, companies and associations can apply for funding for the construction of such systems, whereby the funding can be up to 500,000 euros per project. This also includes the establishment of charging points for electric vehicles to further support the use of renewable energies.

The comprehensive measures for the installation of photovoltaic systems at parking spaces show how Austria takes the way into a greener future by making parts of the energy supply environmentally friendly. A step that contributes both the quality of life of the citizens and to the great task of climate protection by reinforcing the power supply from renewable sources.
