Scandal about Rapid: Fans escalate, coach demands fighting spirit!
A turbulent week for SK Rapid Vienna and his fans: On Sunday, the guest appearance against TSV Hartberg was anything but harmonious. Before the game kicked off, riots occurred, as a disappointed Rapid fan insulted the security forces with objects and pyrotechnic scenic materials. The police reacted with pepper spray and batons, which led to a 45-minute delay of the kick-off. Rapid managing director Steffen Hofmann told "Sky" that the situation escalated after a first arrest. Despite these chaotic circumstances, the game finally took its course, but it ended with a 1-2 defeat for the Viennese, which also tightened the already tense location in the table.
sporting negative spiral
The match against Hartberg was not only shaped by riot, because on the green lawn it has not been running round for the green and whites for a long time. After the game, head coach Robert Klauß recorded that the performance was "not sufficient" and that it lacks the necessary energy. "We have to show more will to win," said Klauss, who spoke to the poor fitness of a few key players. Captain Matthias Seidl added that the team has to show more team spirit and fighting spirit to overcome the current sporting misery. "Everyone has to run for the other," says Seidl, who distributed responsibility to the team.
The table is already throwing shadows on the planning of Rapid for the upcoming master round. After the defeat, the club slipped to sixth place, while the LASK passed fourth by winning. Blau-Weiß Linz is now positioned in front of Rapid after a success at the WAC. The impending way not to move into the master group is alarming. "We are in a sensitive situation," commented Hofmann worried. In order to escape from this dilemma, the team has to win against the GAK in the last basic game. In addition, the second leg in the UEFA Conference League against Banja Luka, which further increases the pressure.
"Now we have a week where we really have stress," continued Hofmann, and hopes that the players hold together and master the challenges. In the next few days it will have to be shown whether Rapid will make the turn or whether the negative spiral continues to continue.
