New board for Energy Styria: Graf and Ressi take over the top!

In a crucial step for the future of the Styrian energy industry, two new board members, Martin Graf and Werner Ressi, were appointed for a five -year term at a supervisory board meeting of Energie Styria on Monday, December 18, 2024. The chairman of the supervisory board, Karl Rose, confidently commented on the qualifications of the new team, which is intended to advance the development of the company with its impressive expertise. The process for the selection of the new managers began in July and comprised around 30 international applicants, as the Energie Styria announced. This award takes place at a time when the state policy is also changed, since a new state government is presented, such as Kleine Zeitung reported.

Martin Graf, who has been on the board of Energie Styria since 2016 and previously known as the board of the E-Control regulatory authority, will guide finance, controlling, treasury, law, personnel and networks. In his previous career, he campaigned for corporate financing and sustainability and developed the group into an internationally recognized company. On the other hand, Werner Ressi, who was previously managing director of Energie Graz, takes responsibility for the areas of generation, sales, technology, district heating and information technology. Rose emphasized that the outgoing board spokesman Christian Purrer, who will remain in office until the end of March 2025, has contributed significantly to the form of the company since 2012.

The selection process, however, came under criticism just a few days after the state election. Industry insiders expressed that it was more common to fill such management positions one year in advance. Nevertheless, the members of the Supervisory Board unanimously opted for the title leaders Graf and Ressi, who will now direct the fortunes of Energie Styria.
