Cute woodpecker: A musical experiment between joy and sadness!
Cute woodpecker: A musical experiment between joy and sadness!
The Viennese band Buntspecht stands with full energy in the starting blocks for their new tour of Germany and the release of their latest album "Spring before you fall". During the pandemic, the sextet, consisting of Florentin Scheicher and Lukas Klein as creative minds and other talented musicians, created a variety of new songs that were created in a large part without a specific concept, as Scheicher in an interview with Kleine Zeitung explained. Two demo versions, one of them in the manner of a "drunk pumuckl", were integrated into the creative process as educational experience.
Buntspecht is known for their multifaceted sound and the poetic, partly socially critical texts, which find a special place in their new album. "The city in you" and "so much to see" are examples of clever and emotional lines that address both personal and universal topics. Lukas Klein explains that the texts are sometimes "abstract" while they remain "clearly tangible" at the same time. In addition, in their live performances, they promise not only a musical, but also an intensive emotional experience, which can still have a significant effect without the declared goal of a political agenda. Rather, the focus is on individual reflection and freedom, as Scheicher emphasizes.
from pandemic to the creative highlight
After months without appearances, Buntspecht now has the opportunity to present their new works live. The first concerts after the pandemic are pending, and the anticipation among the band members and the fan base is noticeable. Even if the live experience did not have the usual energetic atmosphere during the time of the social distance, the band was able to develop creative freedom that will now be shown in formabilities. "I love appearances," said Scheicher, who sees reunification with the audience as essential for the band experience. Their concert planning is promising: In addition to various appearances in Austria, you are ready to work beyond the national borders, as you formulated in a discussion with
With the new album, Buntspecht not only concludes a creative phase, but also set a strong sign of liveliness and discovery. No matter how turbulent the times may be, the band remains true to their motto: openness to the unknown and the ability to be amazed and researched. Your fan base is growing rapidly and the curiosity of the album and the upcoming appearances are great. Cute woodpecker is ready - both musically and emotionally - for what comes.
